Every branch gets its own preview URL with its own scoped environment variables, so a feature branch can talk to a test Stripe key while main talks to live. Shipping to production means promoting a preview that's already been reviewed and tested, not rebuilding and hoping, and rolling back is one click to the previous deployment instead of a git revert under pressure.

Billing state on coverletter.my is reconciled from verified webhooks, not client-side success callbacks — a closed tab or a dropped connection should never leave a subscription in the wrong state. Every webhook handler checks its signature and uses idempotency keys, so a retried delivery can't double-charge or double-fulfill. Test and live keys stay in separate environments so a stray test charge can't reach a real card.

DNS and zone migrations are planned around TTL drop-downs so a cut-over doesn't cause a visible outage. Cache rules are set per route and asset type — aggressive on static assets, bypassed on anything dynamic — instead of one blanket setting. R2 handles user-uploaded assets without egress fees; S3 sits alongside it where a specific integration needs it, so the choice is deliberate rather than default.
